What these figures are

Loans actually signed. Not advertised offers.

The Bundesbank averages the rates on the new home loans banks in Germany agree each month, weighted by their size and without fees. Advertised offers usually sit a little above them.

By how long the rate is fixed. The usual 10-year loan counts in "over 5, up to 10 years".

Each band includes its upper end. A longer fixed period usually costs a little more, and buys certainty for longer.

Your own rate. It turns on your figures.

How much you borrow against the value, your income and the property all move it, so offers for you can sit above or below the average.

Every month. The newest month is provisional.

The Bundesbank publishes each month's figures a few weeks after it ends, and may revise the month before. We take them as published, every day.
